Professional background
Meet Jonathan, Massage and Neuromuscular Therapist
Educational Background: I earned my limited medical license in manual therapy at the National Institute of Massotherapy in Ohio, where I immersed myself in neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, postural analysis, sports massage, and Swedish massage. My expertise lies in addressing peripheral neuropathies like carpal tunnel syndrome and sciatic impingement, as well as chronic pain and biomechanical dysfunction. I take pride in blending technical knowledge with a compassionate approach to care.
What Drew Me to the Spa Industry: Breaking my back was a life-changing event that sparked my passion for bodywork. While rest, physical therapy, and stretching were essential to my recovery, it was bodywork that truly transformed my healing journey. I wanted to bring that same sense of renewal to others.
Started at The Woods: December 2024
Why I Love Working at The Woods: The Spa at The Woods offers the perfect blend of natural beauty and a welcoming, supportive team. It’s an inspiring environment where I can help clients while surrounded by Vermont’s charm.
Favorite Service to Provide: My favorite service to offer is therapeutic manual therapy, especially through The Woods Custom Massage. It allows me to create personalized treatments that blend relaxation with targeted care to address each client’s unique needs.
Favorite Local Activity or Business: Downhill mountain biking is my ultimate passion. Whether it’s the incredible trails at Killington Bike Park, Bolton’s Driving Range, or Mt. Peg near Woodstock, there’s no shortage of adrenaline-fueled adventure. For an even bigger thrill, Highland Bike Park is just a couple hours away and worth every second.
Hobbies: When I’m not biking or working, I recharge by diving into a good book, meditating with holotropic breathing, camping under the stars, hiking, or strumming my guitar. These moments keep me grounded and inspired.
Favorite Vermont Destination: Dog Mountain in St. Johnsbury is a truly magical place. Created by artist Stephen Huneck, it’s a sprawling 150-acre haven where dogs can roam free, splash in the pond, and play. The Dog Chapel, a heartfelt memorial where people honor their late furry friends, adds an extra layer of love and connection to the space.
Top Recommendation for Clients: Breathe. Proper breathing technique is one of the most powerful tools for wellness—it’s simple, transformative, and benefits every aspect of life.
Favorite Quote: I’m inspired by Voltaire’s wisdom, “Doubt is uncomfortable, but certainty is absurd,” and the humor of Douglas Adams: “In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move.”
